Cheating, why not?
Cheating
is normal. Is that what we think? Well, most of us think so. If there is an
equation showing the relationship between, cheating and test, it will be :
test=cheat. But, is cheating ‘that’ good? And why should we cheat?
We
spend more than 5 hours – or? Day in campus everyday. But, do we ever think we
do it? We go to campus for our better future? We go to campus to get knowledge?
Or we go to campus to get good marks? When we were in the elementary schools,
we used to say that we go to school to get knowledge. However, as time goes by
we were brain-washed until we reach a point where we say that we go to school
to get good marks. How can it happen?
When
we were in the elementary school, we were so young and natural. We didn’t
really know what mark is and what for it is. When we were getting older, we had
just realize what for mark is. Mark is not only for showing our learning
progress, but also for placing us whether we are smart, so-so, or stupid. We,
as normal students don’t want to be called stupid, right? That’s why we try to
do anything (included cheating, of course) to get good marks so that we aren’t
called stupid. Then, we don’t realize that our mind had washed so that our
purpose to go to school is changed.
Thinking
about cheating for placing us, are we sure that we can be (looked) smart by
cheating? Maybe in some tests we can get good marks, but deep inside our heart
we know that we aren’t that smart. There are still some real-smart-students who
don’t want to cheat, even sometimes they get worse mark than those who cheat.
Beside, the teachers know who the real smart students are, and who the
instantly smart students are. Then why are we still cheating?
When
we were children, we often hear: “Cheating is lying to yourself”, but maybe we
didn’t know what it means. Now, let’s think this way, we are used to cheat. We
are used to get good marks (from cheating). We are used to see ourselves as
smart students. Then what is the implication? We think of ourselves better than
who we really we are. We put ourselves higher than what we should. And what
happen next?
Let’s
take an example. Suppose that we always successfully cheated without anyone
knew. We pretended to be smart. We passed the national examination with
cheating. We also passed the test of faculty of medicine successfully, of course
with cheating. Then now we are in faculty of medicine, we thought that we have
enough intelligent for it. However, the fact is we are not that smart. So when
we take that difficult faculty, we are in a big trouble. Later we will realize
that we aren’t that smart, and when the realize-time comes, it’s all too late
to be changed.
We
know the nature of young generations tend to think about short-term things.
And, cheating can solve their short-term problems about getting bad marks, but
how about the long-term ones? We just haven’t realize that we will not be able
to cheat in doing our work someday when we get job. When the work time comes,
we have to show what we had studied in campus to solve our problems in our
works.
Moreover, think about cheating in this
globalization era makes us looked stupid. Cheating is a primitive way to get
good marks-just to get good marks in campus-outside campus we will get nothing
at all from cheating. We will not get a good position in this world by doing
such a stupid thing. This world needs talented an professional people, not ones
who pretend to look smart. Maybe we still can lie to the world and get a good
position, but right after the world knows who we really are, sure it will kicks
us down. Now, let’s think the way modern people think: do we want to train
ourselves to face this hard world since we are young, or we want to act to be
smart by cheating and just wait till this world kicks us to another planet?????
